Laurel Glen's original vineyards were planted in the 1860s; 25 acres were replanted in 1968 to cabernet sauvignon. We have subsequently (beginning in 1978) planted out another 15 acres to several clones of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, and some experimental varieties, syrah and sangiovese (the latter two to assess their possible contribution to enhanced aromatics when blended with the cabernet base wine). The 9 vineyard blocks total 40 acres, and are planted to different spacings and trellising methods -- maybe in 50 years we will have discovered the best combinations (you can ask our opinion then!). PLEASE NOTE: Laurel Glen wines are available for direct shipment only to the following U.S. states: AK, CA, CO, DC, HI, ID, IL, IA, MO, NV, NM, NC, OR, SC, TX, WA, WV, & WI

2004 Laurel Glen Cabernet Sauvignon - Sonoma Mountain
We have shown this vintage only to Steve Tanzer, who had this to say about it over a year ago, when it was still in barrel:
Good bright ruby-red. Musky, rather wild nose combines black cherry, licorice, menthol and dark chocolate. Densely packed and sweet, with some superripe qualities to the flavors of cherry liqueur and chocolate. .

2005 Laurel Glen Counterpoint Cabernet Sauvignon - Sonoma Mountain
Here’s what Tanzer says about it: "Deep ruby color. Spicy blackberry and cherry on the nose, with suave spice and floral qualities adding complexity. Clean, sharply focused red and dark berry flavors offer very good energy and silky texture, picking up a refreshingly bitter licorice quality with air. Leaves strong cassis and floral pastille flavors behind, along with zesty minerals. Quite elegantly styled."

2007 Laurel Glen REDS Red Table Wine Zinfandel Blend - Lodi
The 2007 REDS was fully ripened, beginning with the zinfandel in mid-September and ending with the carignane in early October. It's dark, spicy, and powerful; but it's equally fresh and delicious, with enough natural acidity to invite another glass. This is not a ponderous monster, but rather a large-scaled and graceful wine that matches beautifully with full flavored foods!

2006 Laurel Glen Vale La Pena Malbec - Argentina
Wine Enthusiast Magazine
Top 100 Wines for 2009
Score 92
Astoundingly opaque deep-purple, redolent of dried orange peel, truffles, and black fruit; and a mouth filling rush of flavors with a smooth and full finish that just doesn't quit.

2007 Laurel Glen Terra Rosa Malbec - Argentina
In the spring of 1998 I drove east over the Andes from Chile and drank my first Argentine malbec. I still remember it: dark and rich with a hauntingly light finish. It displayed a brisk minerality that separated it from the fruit-packed and often lush wines of California and Chile. A wild, full-bodied wine that was not tiring to drink.

2007 Laurel Glen Tierra Divina Malbec - Argentina (CLON)
Tierra Divina is an expression of the Valle de Uco: very dark; deeply fruited with ripe, dense plum and cassis fruit; complex and fragrant and exotic, with a beautiful long finish. And like the best malbecs, its power is tempered by a haunting lightness in the mouth.
