2008 Le Pique-Nique Dry Rose

New Release! We made our first Rosé in 2006 almost as an afterthought. We had decided to concentrate one of our Zinfandel tanks by drawing off some of the juice after crushing the grapes. We blended this with a small lot of Syrah and Zin that we left on the skins for two days and then pressed for added color and richness. It was so successful that we decided to develop a game plan that would make the best Rosé and improve several of our other wines, a true win-win situation. We set aside a small portion of one of our Zinfandel vineyards for crushing and skin contact and augmented that with smaller amounts of juice drawn from all our other Zinfandel & Syrah tanks. The color of the 2008, has a traditional salmon hue-just like the best French wines of this style. The aromas are dominated by tangerine, watermelon and strawberry, with hints of peach and guava. It’s not just simple tutti frutti, however. There is a mineral note and bits of cinnamon and vanilla. On the palate it has medium body and refreshing acidity, with enough richness and depth to pair with foods that might overpower most white wines. This nicely bridges the gap between white and red and should go nicely with Indian and Thai food as well as light BBQ and other “picnic” fare. Details   Price: $ 14.00   Quantity Out of stock
